“The world wavered and quivered and threatened to burst into flames” is a quote from Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway (1925), which at times resonates with our perception of the world. Composed of very sensual worlds, the sentence has a physical effect on the bodies of readers. This sentence is carved into a transparent fabric which resembles the material used for bandaging wounds. It is a fragile material and the text is not rigid, alluding to the fragility of the speaker and of the moment they are describing. This is also true for the silk-screened abstraction of the “shrug emoji” accompanying the text. Behind the fabric in each frame photographs of natural phenomena are partly visible.
